Cashmere Sweaters for Men, by Colour

15 colourways across the range — deeper than most cashmere specialists carry. Every one is photographed from its own dye lot, never a recoloured sample. 2 of the 28 style-and-colour combinations are shot on one neckline only.

Which one should you buy?

All three are the same fibre and the same workshop. The difference is the neck and how you intend to wear it.

What makes it Grade A

Fibre spec: Chyangra breed, 12-16 micron, Grade A, herded above 3,000 m in Mustang, Manang and Dolpo
Grade A Chyangra cashmere at 12 to 16 micron, combed from herds grazing above 3,000 metres in Mustang, Manang and Dolpo.

Where the fibre comes from

Cashmere is graded on fibre diameter. Most sellers say "100% cashmere" and stop there, because Grade B and Grade C are also 100% cashmere.

Grade AUnder 16 micron — what goes into these three sweaters
Grade B16–19 micron
Grade C19–30 micron

Ours measures 12 to 16 microns, combed from Chyangra goats — Nepal's cashmere breed, not the Changthangi of Ladakh that plenty of brands name by mistake. The herds are in Mustang, Manang and Dolpo, above 3,000 metres, where the cold produces the fine undercoat that grades well.

Fibre certification documentation is available on request.

Hira Lal Tamang takes three to four days over one sweater, and a workshop that works at that pace does not produce at $60. That is the whole of the price difference — there is no other secret in it.

Size & fit

Measurements are the garment laid flat, in centimetres. Sleeve is measured from the shoulder seam and listed separately, because sleeve length is where most sweaters actually fail. Between sizes? Take the larger.

If it is wrong you can exchange it within 15 days — we would rather swap it than have it sit unworn. Return postage is currently the customer's.

Men's crew neck cashmere sweater in Yale Blue, made in the Pokhara workshop

Pokhara, Nepal

Four named people touch every sweater

Hira Lal Tamang knits the panels, Rina Gurung links them, Sanita Roka Chhetri washes and finishes, and Renu Tamang's section mends, labels and inspects. Renu is the maker the workshop names on all three listings, which is not the same as her having made it alone.

Yes Helping Hand has employed single mothers and differently-abled artisans in Pokhara since 2011180+ people today. That is also why this range is three sweaters and not thirty.

Care, in four steps

Cashmere needs more than wool does. None of this is difficult, and doing it is the difference between three seasons and ten.

Why cashmere pills →
1Hand wash at 30 °C maxGentle wool detergent. Do not machine wash, do not wring.
2Reshape while dampPress flat to the measurements above before it dries.
3Lay flat to dryOut of direct sunlight. Never hang — hanging stretches the shoulder.
4Comb, never shaveA cashmere comb lifts pills. A razor cuts fibre and makes it worse.

Wearing it: what goes under, what goes over

A sweater you cannot place in an outfit stays in the drawer. These five guides cover the questions people actually ask after buying.

What to Wear Under a Sweater →
1What to Wear Under a SweaterShirt, tee or nothing, and why a knit over a woven shirt pulls at the placket.
2How to Wear a Sport Coat with a SweaterThe crew neck under a jacket, and the collar geometry that decides it.
3Wearing a Sweater Under a Blazer (and Suit)Where the V-neck earns its keep, and why a near-match navy is the failure mode.
4Funnel Neck Sweaters for MenWhat a funnel neck is, and how the quarter zip changes how it wears.

Questions before you buy

How should a men's cashmere sweater fit?

Close through the body without pulling at the placket, with the shoulder seam landing on the edge of your shoulder and the cuff at the wrist bone. Our chart lists chest, length and sleeve, because sleeve length is where most sweaters actually fail.

Is this really 100% cashmere?

Yes — 100% Grade A Himalayan cashmere, no blend, no wool content. Fibre certification documentation is available on request.

Which country has the best cashmere?

There is no single answer, and any brand that gives you one is selling. Fineness is set by altitude and cold, not by borders. Nepali Chyangra fibre from above 3,000 metres and Inner Mongolian fibre both grade well. Ours is Nepali, at 12–16 microns.

How much should a 100% cashmere sweater cost?

Anywhere from $60 to $1,250 for genuine 100% cashmere — the range is real, not a scam. What moves the price is fibre grade, ply, how long the fibre is, and how much time a person spends on each garment. See the price ladder above for where each brand actually sits.

Will it pill?

A little, in the first two or three wears, as short surface fibres work loose. That settles. Comb it gently with a cashmere comb — never a razor. Full explanation on the does-cashmere-pill guide.

Do you ship worldwide, and how long does it take?

Yes, and free over $100. These ship from Pokhara, so allow longer than a domestic order — check current transit times by region before ordering for a specific date.
